Watch Dogs: Viethacking (often shortened as WDV) is open-world hacking game by Ubisoft. It was released on 2029 for PS6, Xbox Three and PC. It is set in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Player takes a control of a 25-year old gray hat hacker Tran Thu Duong of DedSec Vietnam.


Plot[]

Story Mode[]

The game as well the introduction of the game started with several lively scenery scenes through Ho Chi Minh City, as well as pedestrians doing their activities. Until the game shows a young man who appear to hacking an ATM machine in which he gains the money, then he goes to a nearest bus stop and aboard a bus. While the young man was on his bus trip, suddenly. A police car with two members of polices shown up with sirens on and order the bus to pull over, then the bus stopped. One of the police, named Kennie Gevinki decided to get on the bus and apprehend a young man with the name "Trần Thủ Dương" on the bus who was the man that hacked ATM before. He handcuffed Tran and order him to get out of the bus and get in his police car, with Tran questioning the officer Kennie what is happening him but however the officer tell him to be silent which Tran agreed to but get confused at the same time. After Tran got bundled to the police car, his money was confiscated by Kennie. After that, the police car drive away.

During the way, Kennie tells Tran that about the status of Ho Chi Minh City as well as the city's ridden with alot of corrupt locals, powerful mafias and opportunistic technologies along as the city is under monitored by CTos Vietnam along with the presence of DedSec Vietnam. As well, then Kennie tells Tran that there are still good locals in the city, with Kennie and his partners among one of them which Tran just listen. Then Kennie tells Tran that there's someone who needs him, which make Tran questioning who needs him but Kennie tells Tran to be quiet once more and just wait for that. Then, he dropped Tran somewhere in Thu Thiem and order Tran to step out of his police car and waits for him here as he drove away along with telling that he'll come back to pick him up again. Tran got confused what is happening as Kennie lefts him in middle of nowhere in Thu Thiem but suddenly he is knocked out by a mysterious man.

Later, Tran gained conscious once again but with a bag on his head this time. The bag is taken away, revealing Tran to be in a room in a building what appeared to a mafia headquarter with a lot of mafia members around him in the room which shooked Tran in a surprise. The mafia boss entered the room and introduces himself to Tran with his name revealed to be Blake Sinn, as well giving him the offer to join his mafia organization and works for him or reject the offer and die as he threaten Tran with his knife pointed at his throat. Tran agreed to join his mafia organization, as well Blake tells him "that's good". Suddenly, the power in the room started to flickering. Blake Sinn and his mafia members went to check on the power circuit while ordering a member to look after Tran. Tran then receive a anonymous message from his phone which tell him to get out of here. As well, then Tran stand up and approach the mafia member. As the mafia member asks Tran what's going on, Tran doesn't respond, then quickly overpowered the mafia member and take him down. He then get out of the mafia headquarter without getting spotted by any mafia members.

As Tran get out of the building undetected, several men in black are waiting for him. Tran questions if they were the ones who sent him message which telling him to get out of here, but the men told Tran to be quiet and get in their car. Tran questions what's their motive of bringing him along with them, but the men in black continues to tell Tran to be "quiet" and don't say any more things. But Tran continue to not to be quiet then one of men in black bagged him in the face with a bag from behind which then knocked him unconscious.

Description/Summary[]

Sets in 2029. Ho Chi Minh City has grown and changed alot, mostly their new financial district, Empire City. Alot of hacker and mafia gang groups has surfaced the city few years ago since. A 25-years old young man, named Tran Thu Duong, a very loyal member of DedSec Vietnam. Has the objective to make the DedSec Vietnam one of most successful hacker group in the city, ranging from stealing data from other Vietnamese hacker groups to killing gang leaders, along with facing the downfall and fate of Ho Chi Minh City from growing gang groups, with the use of CTos Vietnam. However, Tran's actions will also causes miseries to the city as well. However, here's other goals that Tran, along with DedSec Vietnam has to. Which is to attack CTos Vietnam and making its controls fully fall to their hands.

Gameplay[]

New Game (Far Cry Mode)[]

  • This mode is unlocked after completing the storyline for first time which allows the player to start and then playing the entire game and even watching the cutscenes in first person camera.

  • In this game, player will controls a 25-years old vietnamese grey hat hacker Tran Thu Duong, he can either free roam around the fictionalized representation of Ho Chi Minh City, doing police chase, parkour or doing story missions for other characters. The parkour mechanics appear to be even better in this than in previous Watch Dogs game. Focus from first Watch Dogs game also returns. There are 20 weapons in game total and 70 storyline missions total. It also has one of most "detailed" gameplay in video games for ever. In this game, Tran is able to switch between lethal and non-lethal mode as well when that to takedowns similar to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Much like since Watch Dogs 2, player/Tran can only carries a limited number of weapons as well which he can only carries 2 handguns and 1 two-handed gun. Tran can swimming like other protagonists from previous Watch Dogs, but this time. He can diving as well. Like in previous Watch Dogs games, Tran can also fast travel to important locations like save points.
  • Tran can also now eating at restaurant or drinking at bars to give him extra health.
  • It is possible for player (Tran Thu Duong)'s vehicle to run out of fuel this time if driving for too long, which will make the vehicle stop functioning unlike in previous Watch Dogs games. However, the gas stations are actually functional and can be used to replenish the fuels for Tran's vehicle.
  • Dogs and cats appear on streets occasionally, and Tran is able to pet them as well.
  • In this game, AIs has been massively overhauled compared to previous Watch Dogs titles as well. As such, pedestrians will react to any actions Tran does. For example, they will actually comment if they saw Tran swimming in a place that he isn't supposed to swimming.
  • Unlike in previous Watch Dogs, at the beginning. There will be fogs covering entire the map, as such. Tran will have to go a district's placeholder for CTos Vietnam and hacks CTos Vietnam, which will uncovered the fog in the district as well as revealing many new point of interests in the district. This is also called as "grey area" in-game.
  • "Escort through cameras" also returned from Watch Dogs 1 in Watch Dogs: Viethacking, this time. Player could command their allies that they're escorting to silently take down enemies if not getting spotted yet.
  • Guns are significantly less important in Watch Dogs: Viethacking than in previous Watch Dogs games, due to the fact that the gun laws in Vietnam where the game take place are much strict than gun laws in America where first two WD games takes place. As such, there are also no gun stores in this game unlike previous WD games. Also, the player obtain guns way more late in WDV story compared to previous WD games.

  • Tran Thu Duong (protagonist): The main protagonist and one of playable characters of the game. He is a Vietnamese Member of DedSec who's obsessed with surveilance and security devices. As well as a skilled grey hat hacker.

Antagonists[]

  • Noah Consrelli: A local corrupt officer of HCMCPD who's also secretly a cybercrimer. He gained controls to CTos Vietnam as well. He secretly worked for gangs as well without HCMCPD know that.
  • Blake Sinn: The don/boss/leader of Thu Thiem Mafia who's also an elderly cybercrimer who have access to CTos Vietnam as well.
  • Charles Deazley: The leader of Tintac. He is also very skilled in hacking. He, along with his hacker group often sneak and uploading the exploits to DedSec's system. However, this often result in backfire.
  • Greypulate North:The main and most important antagonist of the game. He often making deals with several gangs and law enforcement of HCMC. And also the one who greatly manipulates CTos Vietnam and controls it through the Ho Chi Minh City. He often secures the city as well with his manipulation of CTos Vietnam as well. He was born in Northwest Vietnam. He is also a operation leader.

  • Ho Chi Minh City Police Department (Law/Enemy): Legal law faction in game, they will start chases at player Tran Thu Duong if a pedestrian succeslly to call them about player committed a crime. Player's friend faction gang DedSec Vietnam gang will also shoot at polices if they saws the polices chases Tran Thu Duong on sighty. They will carry Assualt Rifles, Stun Gun, Pistols and Shotguns. they has 4 ranks like the other enemy factions gangs: Gunman, Veteran, Elite and Enforcer. They cannot be outcomed by kill at of them, and they will spawn infinifely no matter how many polices player has killed. Polices that is armed with Stun gun is considered dangerous, as if player do not take him down quicky, player is most likely gut stuned by his stun gun and is eventully got killed, so be catious with polices that is armed with stun gun, however, they is rarely to spawn and began to spawn at heat level at 3 heat levels. If you attempts to escape from Ho Chi Minh City Public Secruity Department in a helicopter, the officers will use disable helicopter at your helicopter will causing your helicopter to crash thus leaving you to escape on foot or in a car. At 3 heats level and higher, Polices will have their abilities to shoot from their police car 
  • DedSec Vietnam (Friend): the main friendly faction-gang of the game. They appear to be very protective around Tran Thu Duong and is often defends him from other hostile enemy gangs. However, they will still hostile to Tran Thu Duong when he attacks them, this was doned to make the game realistic. They will also attack polices in sight if they saw polices is chasing Tran Thu Duong (unless at high heat levels), they will flee away from the polices and will not defend Tran Thu Duong from polices
  • Thu Thiem Mafia (Enemy):One of wealthiest, aggressive and biggest gang/mafia in the game. They are always seen in Thu Thiem area of District 2, and always seen found commit crimes. They is one of most powerful gang in game. They are also one of most major gangs in game. They often appears in missions that is take places in Thu Thiem area of District 2.
  • Drug Dealers (enemy): Drug Dealers is a type of a criminal that often selling drugs to people on streets. They is uncommon enemies on street. Drug Dealers is also sometimes armed with a gun (usually p-9mm pistol) and will attacking player if player provokes them. Unarmed dealers will usually run away from player or call polices.
  • Tintac (Enemy): A hacker group led by Charles that is rival hacker group to DedSec. Which has several of hacking possibilities such as being able to hack steam pipes, and controlling cars.
  • Caytre Special Group (Enemy): A private Vietnamese citywide special force which worked alongside the HCMCPD to ceasing the crime activities in Ho Chi Minh City as well as put CTos Vietnam under heavy surveillance and prevents anyone else messing with the system, however. They can be corrupt at sometimes.
  • Red Shining Saigon (Enemy): A entirely Vietnamese street gang which their presence are through out Ho Chi Minh City, with their most reported presence being in Phu Nhuan District, District 5, Binh Tan District, Go Vap District and District 11.

    • Foreign characters will still speak other languages in the game. Even if "Vietnamese" subtitle and character voices are selected. However, "Vietnamese" subtitle will also translate the different languages in the game.
  • London, Chicago, San Francisco, Seoul and especially other cities are seen mentioned in this game.
    • Other Vietnamese cities (Such as Hanoi and Danang) are mentioned in this game as well.

In Watch Dogs: Viethacking, blackout will affect the entire city no matter which district Tran is in. This time, blackout in Watch Dogs: Viethacking has been renamed as "Light City Manipulation". This time, player could able to toggle the city lights to work on or turn it off again during the blackout duration.
  • All of antagonists in WDV's status are "Determinant", which meaning they can be killed or either get incarcerated by polices. Except for Charles Deazley and Greypulate North.
